Workshops
Friday 24/02 at 18.00: Nina Lauder, Creating Curiosity in the Classroom
People have a natural desire to find out more than what they already know. This natural curiosity to learn is something that, as teachers, we can tap into in the classroom. Learning is critically influenced by learner motivation and our classes are much more productive if students are curious about a topic and engaged in it. Curiosity might have 'killed the cat', but a lack of curiosity in the classroom might kill our pupils' will to learn. Come along and find out how to build interest and spark curiosity in our lessons.
Saturday 25/02 at 9.30: Vanessa Reilly, Encouraging Very Young Children to Communicate
In this session we will focus on creating links between the EIN curriculum and English language learning. We will consider approaching language learning from a different angle to include broader learning aims.
Please be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get involved.
Saturday 25/02 at 11.15: Núria Martí and Mark Temple, Doing double duty: building topic vocabulary and improving reference skills with the bilingual dictionary
To help students boost their vocabulary and to get more out of their bilingual dictionaries, a new resource in the latest edition of the Diccionari Oxford Pocket Català shows them how to create their own topic-related revision materials while at the same time practising vital reference skills. This workshop will give you the opportunity to try out new activities which you can take away and use in class.
